The MJHL announced its U18 roster on Monday for the 2026 Western All-Star Challenge, which will take place from Nov. 2-4 in Martensville, Saskatchewan.
William Picklyk has been selected to represent the Steinbach Pistons at the event.
“I was super excited,” said Picklyk in an interview with Christian Rempel about being named to the roster. “I saw the list on Instagram and I went straight to my email, saw the email, and yeah, just super excited.”
The Mitchell, Manitoba, product is also looking forward to playing alongside some friends while getting to know new teammates.
“I know a couple of guys on the team and meeting some new guys will be really cool too.”
Team MJHL’s 20-man roster features 16 Manitoba-born players, three from Alberta and one from Minnesota, including the 17-year-old Picklyk.
The event will feature two rivalry games between the MJHL and SJHL, showcasing some of the top 2008-, 2009- and 2010-born players from both leagues. Forty prospects, with 20 representing each league, will compete for bragging rights across the Prairies.
Through 12 games this season with Steinbach, Picklyk has recorded five points (2G, 3A). Last season, in his first year in the MJHL, the six-foot forward recorded 21 goals and 12 assists in 54 games for 33 points.
