Pistons Acquire F Burr From Steelers

The Steinbach Pistons have acquired forward Blake Burr (’01) from the Selkirk Steelers in exchange for the MJHL List Rights to forward Lucas Brennan (’04) and Future Considerations.

The addition of Burr bolsters the forward group for the Pistons just before the start of the regular season. The 19-year-old forward from Winnipeg led the Steelers in scoring last season with 28 goals and 52 points in a full 60 game season. Before that he put up 9 goals and 33 points in 57 games played during his rookie year in 2018-19.

“Blake is a proven scorer at this level, and his experience will benefit us this season,” Head Coach/General Manager Paul Dyck said of his new forward. “We are confident he will be a great fit with our group. It’s always exciting to add a player like Blake.”

Burr is expected to join the Pistons in time for today’s practice, but is not anticipated to be in the lineup for tomorrow night’s exhibition game against his now former club.

Brennan played last season with the Winnipeg Bruins in the Manitoba U-17 League, putting up 9 goals and 21 points in 36 games played in 2019-20.

The Pistons would like to welcome Blake and his family to the organization.
