Pistons Fall 3-2 In Back-to-Back Versus Stampeders

The Steinbach Pistons lost by a score of 3-2 to the Swan Valley Stampeders Saturday evening at the TG Smith Centre.

The first half of the first period saw the game go back and forth with both teams getting chances, but the Pistons having a slight edge and controlling play.

The Stamps opened the scoring at the 13:56 mark of the first period as the puck squeaked past Pistons goaltender Simon Harkness with Trey Sauder being awarded the goal.

At the end of the first period the Stamps were leading 1-0 with the shot totals 7-6 in favour of the Pistons.

Quinton Pepper got the Pistons on the board midway through the second period on the powerplay. Pepper tipped a shot by Braden Birnie with the secondary assist going to Zach Power.

The Stamps would answer back quickly as Cody Barnes would score a minute and half later on the powerplay, shooting from the right playoff dot with Harkness not getting a good view of it.

The Pistons would also answer quickly as Quinton Pepper got his second goal of the night, tipping Langley Kruggel’s shot with Braden Birnie getting the secondary assist on the play.

The game would go into the second intermission tied 2-2 with the Pistons outshooting the Stamps 20-15.

The Stamps would take the lead quickly in the third, scoring 47 seconds into the period as Myles Mason redirected the puck right in front of the net to give the Stamps a 3-2 lead.

The Pistons would try and battle back to tie the game but the Stamps locked down the backend keeping it 3-2 and securing the win.
