The Steinbach Pistons organization received a special recognition from the Steinbach Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday morning.
The team received the 2020 Community Involvement Award as part of the Chamber’s annual Business Excellence Awards. The award recognizes a business or an organization that has demonstrated leadership, made significant contributions to improve the well-being of the community, and promotes community involvement as part of their corporate culture.
Head Coach/GM Paul Dyck accepted the award on behalf of the Pistons organization, and he says that the team’s volunteering initiative is now part of the expectation of being in the program. “It really has become part of our culture,” he said to Steinbachonline.com’s Kenton Dyck. “We’ve often told our players that as hockey players, we’re privileged to play the game we love with fans. So there’s a responsibility that we feel to give back, and our guys have bought into that. They understand that’s all part of being a Steinbach Piston.
“It’s truly an honour, and we’re grateful for our guys and the work they’ve done here over the past several years.”
The Pistons congratulate all of the fellow nominees in this category and commend them for their involvement in our community.
