Crafting a 3-1 victory over the Swan Valley Stampeders Saturday night in Steinbach, the red hot Steinbach Pistons have now garnered points in 13 straight Manitoba Junior Hockey League games.

Despite having the Stampeders under siege most of the night, outshooting the visitors 50-22 along the way, it took third period goals by Cole Smith and Denis Bosc to put this game away for the Pistons.

Hayden Goderis staked the Pistons to a lead 6:38 into the first and Josh Martin tied it for the Stamps three minutes later, and this game remain deadlocked until Smith finally beat Zach De Graves with the winner at 6:27 of the third. De Graves was superb in net for the Stampeders making 47 saves while Jeremy Wik stopped 21 to get the win for the Pistons.

Elsewhere in the MJHL last night: Portage downed Neepawa 7-4, Dauphin got by Selkirk 5-2 and Virden blanked Winkler 1-0.

The second place Pistons improved their record to an impressive 38-9-3, 13 points back of the leading Portage Terriers, although the Pistons do have three games in hand on the Terriers.

Steinbach is now idle until Friday when they host the Dauphin Kings at 7:30 p.m. at the T.G. Smith Centre.
