Steinbach Pistons Skills Competition

The Steinbach Pistons will be hosting their 2nd annual team Skills Competition presented by Coffee Culture Café and Eatery on Monday, January 2nd. It will be a casual fun evening giving fans old and young a different perspective on their hometown team.

The Pistons will be divided into two teams before the event. Team Bochinski/Koga versus Team Anderson/Carlson; both teams, will do a schoolyard pick of the players prior to the event.

And then the captains will assign players to the five different skills; Fastest Skater, Breakaway Challenge, Accuracy Shooting, Hardest Shot and Shoot Out Challenge. Points will accumulate during the event to see which team comes out on top. Same format as the NHL skills competition.

There will be an added twist to the event. The Pistons are inviting local minor hockey league teams to take part. They are encouraged to tweet, facebook or email the Steinbach Pistons a picture of their minor hockey league team to enter for the chance to hang out on the bench, take part in the skills and play alongside the Pistons.

Students 18 & under get in the doors free of charge and will get a Pistons puck while supplies last. The cost is $5.00 per/adult. Players will be available on the ice following the game to sign autographs.

Here are the highlights from last year.
