Steinbach Takes 2-1 Series Lead in OT Victory

The Steinbach Pistons beat the Dauphin Kings in game 3 with a 5-4 OT victory, scoring just 55 seconds into OT.

Ty Paisley opened the scoring for Steinbach just under 2-minutes into the opening frame putting them up 1-0. Dawson Milliken and Davis Fry got the assists on the play.

Dauphin tied it up 1-1 two minutes later as Brayden Dube centred the puck and it trickled between Simon Harkness’ legs and into the net.

Quinton Pepper restored the Pistons one goal lead, making it 2-1 on the powerplay. Zach Power centred the puck in the high slot to the Ty Paisley who then fanned on the puck, but it went to Quinton Pepper at the side of the net who potted the puck.

At the 14:27 mark of first period Mathew Rathbone tied it up 2-2 on a fluky bounce off the glass. Rathbone dumped the puck in, but it took a weird bounce off the glass and bounced into the net past Harkness who barely even saw it.

Steinbach restored their one goal lead once again as Cooper Rice made it 3-2 with 39 seconds left in the first period. Rice got the puck at the side of the net and chipped it off Carson Cherepak’s helmet and into the net.

Steinbach was up 3-2 after the first period of play with the shot totals 12-11 for Dauphin.

Logan Calder tied the game up just over 6-minutes into the second period. Calder got the puck down low and flipped it over Simon Harkness’ pad making it 3-3.

Dauphin would take their first lead of the game at the 13:15 mark of the second period on a shorthanded goal. Zac Patrick made a diving effort to keep the puck in the zone, but it went right to Cordell Coleman, who sprung on a breakaway and made no mistake making it 4-3.

Dauphin went into the second intermission up 4-3 with the shot totals 22-20 for Steinbach.

Steinbach tied the game up at the 7:05 mark of the third period. Jack Rogers entered the offensive zone and made a beautiful drop pass to Bryce Kilbourne who then whipped it past Cherepak making it 4-4.

After three periods of play the game was tied 4-4 and would head to OT.
