The Steinbach Pistons smacked the Selkirk Steelers 6-2 Friday night in Steinbach to complete their Manitoba Junior Hockey League 60-game regular season schedule.

Steinbach completes their schedule with a superb record of 45-10-5, finishing second behind the Portage Terriers for the second year in a row.

Quinton Lisoway, Robert Briem and Denis Bosc each had a goal and two assists for the Pistons. Dan Taillefer, Hayden Goderis and Bradley Schoonbaert rounded out the Steinbach scoring. For Taillefer, who also added an assist, he completes his season fourth in the MJHL scoring race with 81 points in 60 games.

The Pistons outshot Steelers by an incredible margin of 62-13. The period shots were 17-6, 25-4 and 20-3.

Steinbach will open the quarter-finals at home next Friday, March 11, with their opponent still to be determined as teams that finished seven through in 10 in the standing will play off in a best of three survivor series.

Prior to the Pistons taking to the ice last night, the SRSS Sabres suffered a disappointing defeat, 7-2 to the St. Paul’s Crusaders in the third and deciding game of the Winnipeg High School Hockey League semi-fials. It was the second straight year the Sabres were eliminated in the semis by a team finished below them in the regular season standings.
