Former Piston Sam Court Commits To University of New Hampshire

The Steinbach Pistons are proud to announce the NCAA Division I commitment of former Pistons defenseman, Sam Court, to the University of New Hampshire Wildcats.

Court was one of two, 16 year old defenseman, along with Denton Mateychuk, to play with the Pistons during the shortened 2020-21 season.  In 7 games played Court had 5 assists and had earned a spot on the team’s powerplay.

The, now, 17 year old decided to make the move south, to the US, for the 2021-22 season, and is now playing with Avon Old Farms prep school in Avon, Connecticut.

Described by his coaches as a cerebral player, Court turned heads as a young defenseman due to his innate ability to read the ice and make quick educated decisions on the ice.

“We are thrilled to see Sammy commit to UNH as he has put in a lot of work to reach this goal,” shares Pistons Head Coach and GM Paul Dyck. “He has tremendous passion for the game and we look forward to watching his career progress.”

The Steinbach Pistons would like to wish Sam all the best and congratulate him on this exciting commitment.
