Pistons Get Revenge in Portage With 4-2 Win

The Steinbach Pistons had a bounce back win in Portage Friday evening beating the Terriers 4-2 at Stride Place.

The first period had an overload of offence that saw 5 goals between the two teams all in the first 12 minutes of the period.

The Pistons got to work quickly as Davin Griffin scored his 7th goal of the season 1 minute and 35 seconds into the game tipping the shot from the point and potting the rebound. The assists were from Jack Rogers and Cooper Rice to go up 1-0.

The Terriers answered back quickly scoring at the 5:26 mark of the period with Nathan Flodell scoring the goal and tying the game 1-1.

Three and half minutes later Cooper Rice restored the one goal lead tipping a shot from the point by David Cote. Bryce Kilbourne got the secondary assist making the game 2-1.

The Terriers would not let this lead last long as less then 2 minutes later Brandon Funk tied the game.

Steinbach got back to work quickly as Zach Power notched his second as a Piston walking right down the middle. The goal was unassisted making the game 3-2.

At the end of the first period the score was 3-2 with the shots 18-7 in favour of the Pistons.

The second period was quiet compared to the first as the Pistons took one penalty and killed it off successfully.

The second period was scoreless and remained 3-2 for the Steinbach Pistons. Shot totals were 28-11.

The Pistons locked down the third period keeping the score 3-2 for most of the period.

The Terriers pulled their goalie with a minute and a half left in the game on the powerplay playing 6 on 4. Travis Hensrud got a turnover in the defensive zone and whipped in down the ice scoring a shorthanded empty net goal to secure the 4-2 win.
