Rogers’ 4 Point Night Propels Pistons to 5-1 Win

The Steinbach Pistons beat the Portage Terriers 5-1 Saturday evening, winning 3 of 4 against the Terriers.

The Portage Terriers opened the scoring early in the first period at the 3:35 mark. Brendan Holba scored short-handed, getting a loose puck, and scoring on the breakaway.

Quinton Pepper tied the game at the 14:10 mark on the powerplay. Pepper tipped a shot from Zac Patrick getting it past Terriers goaltender Chris Fines. Jack Rogers got the secondary assist on the goal.

At the end of the first period the game was tied 1-1 with the shot totals 18-9 for the Pistons.

Jack Rogers got the Pistons their first lead of the game off a nice feed by Cooper Rice from behind the net to go up 2-1.

Braden Birnie extended the Pistons lead, scoring two powerplay goals 3 minutes apart with Zac Patrick and Jack Rogers assisting the first goal and Zac Patrick and Zach Power assisting the second goal.

The Pistons went into the second intermission up 4-1 with the shot totals 37-14 for the Pistons.

Cooper Rice scored the final goal for the Pistons amming it past Chris Fines, and barely crossing the goal line. Jack Rogers completed his 4-point night with an assist on the goal and Davin Griffin got the secondary assist.

The final score was 5-1 with the Pistons outshooting the Terriers 46-22.
