Pistons Thank Will Hambley

The Steinbach Pistons would like to thank and congratulate Will Hambley as he is opting out of his final Junior hockey season to play for the Western Michigan Men’s Hockey Program next season.

In the 2019/2020 season, Will played for Lake Forest Academy in the MPHL and the USHS-Prep league. With Lake Forest Academy in the MPHL, Will played 8 games and had a 2.93 GAA and a .912 SV%. With Lake Forest Academy in the USHS-Prep Will played 12 games with a 2.50 GAA and .915 SV%. Due to Covid Will did not play with Lake Forest Academy in the 2020/2021 season. Will then joined the Pistons for the start of the 2021/2022 season. Will had a stellar year, with a 1.96 GAA and a .929 SV% in 32 games. Will was named a finalist for the MJHL Goalie of the Year and voted Steinbach Pistons team MVP.

“I came to Steinbach unsure of where I stood in the hockey world but from the second, I got to the rink on my first day I knew I was home” Will commented looking back on his time in Steinbach. “The guys here really make you feel welcome and push you every day to be the best hockey player you can be. It was the best year of hockey I could have asked for and I wish it could have never ended.”

Will’s play in net was the backbone for the Pistons success this season. Will made the saves when it was needed and played well in high stress situations when he was needed most. Off the ice, he was an even better guy. Always joking around and a leader in the locker room, Will was an integral part of the team this past season. You will be missed and we wish you all the best at Western Michigan!
