Pistons Topple Freeze 4-0 Sunday Afternoon

The Steinbach Pistons beat the Winnipeg Freeze by a score of 4-0 Sunday afternoon at the TG Smith Centre.

The Pistons opened the scoring just over 5-minutes into the first period. Leo Chambers got the puck behind the net and attempted a wraparound, unintentionally getting the puck to Ian Amsbaugh out front who put it past Keegan Gordon to make it 1-0.

The Pistons would dominantly control the play in the first period, outshooting the Freeze 18-5, but would only go into the first intermission with a 1-0 lead.

The Pistons would extend their lead 3-minutes into the second period with a powerplay goal. Dawson Milliken got the puck to Langley Kruggel at the point who put a seeing eye shot on net and past Gordon to make it 2-0.

Ty Paisley would extend the Pistons lead 10-minutes later to 3-0. Travis Hensrud got the puck to Ty Paisley in the neutral zone. Paisley entered the offensive zone and put a shot on net that got partially tipped and squeaked through Gordon’s arm.

After two periods of play the Pistons were up 3-0 while outshooting the Freeze 35-13.

The Pistons would close out the scoring early in the third period. Neo Kiemeney got the puck to Warren Clark at the point who put a shot on net with Landon Roberts tipping it perfectly through the five hole to make it 4-0.

The Pistons would close out the game, outshooting the Freeze 56-18 and securing the 4-0 victory.
