Players Have Been Tested On and Off the Ice

The Steinbach Pistons took their training camp outdoors to do fitness testing Wednesday morning.

The fitness test was hosted by RISE Sport Testing, who provided state-of-the-art equipment to help assist the Pistons coaching staff in assessing their player’s physical condition.

The 40 or so players in camp were put through a 40 metre sprint with 10 and 20 metre splits, broad jump, pro agility shuttle and a two lap run around Abe’s Hill, which is just over one mile.

Despite the session beginning around 930AM, the temperature was already around 25 degrees, without factoring in the humidex. There were a few players who pulled up lame, but overall the session was a success.

The Pistons training camp continued with an afternoon ice session and will continue to heat up as the team will look to make a few cuts leading up to their two exhibition games on Friday and Sunday.
