Road Report: Powered by Compass Coach Lines – Jan 27th @ Blues

The Steinbach Pistons head to Winnipeg this evening to face off against the Blues at the Rink Training Centre, with puck drop set for 7:45pm.

With the Pistons most recent win over the Portage Terriers, they are now tied for first place in the MJHL with the Terriers boasting a 29-10-0-0 record and 58 points. The Pistons have been plagued with injuries as of late, with last game seeing them have three full forward lines and the fourth be comprised of an AP and a defenceman. Goaltending has continued to be strong, keeping them in games and giving their skaters a shot at winning games. Steinbach will look to have revenge over the Blues tonight as last week the Blues beat them in their own barn by a score of 4-1.

The Blues currently sit just outside of a playoff spot in the MGEU East Division with 37 points and a 15-20-6-1 record. Luke Janus has been their offensive centre piece as he leads the team and the MJHL rookies in scoring with 46 points (20 goals and 26 assists) in 42 games. Brock Moroz has been the main guy between the pipes as he has started 27 games and has a 0.901 SV% and a 4.19 GAA. Moroz has been great for the number of shots that the Blues let on goal each game as he does his best to give them a chance to win game in and game out.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Pistons: Leo Chambers

Leo Chambers is coming off a strong performance, where he scored two goals against the Portage Terriers. Chambers is a hardworking forward that will not disappoint with the effort he is putting in. With his hard work he gets rewarded as he finds himself in the right place at the right time and generates offence. Chambers has a great 200 ft game as he works hard on both sides of the puck.

Blues: Luke Janus

Luke Janus so far looks to be the front runner for MJHL rookie of the year. In 42 games he has 46 points (20 goals and 26 assists) which leads all MJHL rookies. He has a knack for scoring and has a lethal shot that he knows how to place perfectly. Janus is also great on the powerplay as he cycles the puck well and finds the open man or takes the shot himself.
