Strong Outing from Wasik Leads Pistons to 3-0 Win

The Steinbach Pistons beat the Winnipeg Blues by a score of 3-0 Friday evening at the Rink Training Centre.

The Pistons controlled much of the flow and had all the momentum in the first period but could not solve Brock Moroz and get on the board. After the first period the score was tied 0-0 but the Pistons outshot the Blues 13-4.

The Pistons got on the board, with what would be the eventual game winner, at the 6:14 mark of the second period. Travis Hensrud streaked down the right-side boards and tried to wraparound the puck into the net, but Moroz got across to save it. Hensrud found the rebound and got it to Landon Roberts who was cutting towards the net in the slot and put it past Moroz to make it 1-0.

Each team would get some powerplay opportunities in the second period but could not capitalize on the chances. The Pistons would be up 1-0 going into the second intermission with the shot totals 27-8 for Steinbach.

Steinbach would extend their lead to 2-0 midway through the third period. Landon Roberts stole the puck at centre and got it to Travis Hensrud who then cut into the offensive zone and whipped the puck top corner past Moroz.

The Pistons put the nail in the coffin with an empty net goal from Kirk Mullen at the 18:17 mark of the third period securing the 3-0 win over the Winnipeg Blues.
