Road Report: Powered by Compass Coach Lines – March 29th @ Flyers

The Steinbach Pistons are in Winkler tonight for game four of the series where the Pistons currently lead 2-1.

All three games have been close this series with the first two games being one goal games, 5-4 OT win for Winkler and 3-2 win for Steinbach, and last night’s game a 3-1 win for Steinbach. The series so far has been really chippy and full of penalties with Steinbach being shorthanded 13 times and Winkler shorthanded 14 times. Every game has also been heavy on the physical. Both teams are finishing every check with Pistons forward Landon Roberts leading the way in this category. Both goalies had a rough game 1 but have settled in nicely with Dominik Wasik boasting a 0.906 SV% and a GAA of 2.22 and Malachi Klassen having a 0.892 SV% and a 3.35 GAA.

SPECIAL TEAMS:

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Pistons: Travis Hensrud

Travis Hensrud currently has 4 points (2 goals and 2 assists) in 3 games, scoring goals in back-to-back games. Hensrud has looked great so far as he did all season, playing with speed on the forecheck and disrupting Winkler’s flow of play. Hensrud has added some bite and grit to his game as well, finishing checks and getting under the skin of the Flyers players.

Flyers: Brody Beauchemin

Brody Beauchemin has 3 points (0 goals and 3 assists) in 3 games in the series so far. Beauchemin has played well, setting up teammates with great scoring chances and generating offence.
