Pistons Acquire Goaltender Phinney

The Steinbach Pistons have bolstered their crease as the team has announced the acquisition of goaltender Thomson Phinney (’00).

Phinney stands 6’4” and will move to his sixth junior team of his career, already haven spent time with the Yarmouth Mariners (MJAHL), Blind River Beavers (NOJHL), Kemptville 73’s (CCHL), Waywayseecappo Wolverines, and the Drayton Valley Thunder (AJHL).

Phinney spent a majority of this season as the starting goalie for the Wolverines, registering a 13-8-2 record with a 3.17 GAA, an .887 SV%, and one shutout in 25 games played.

“We felt Thomson would be a very good fit for us as he has experienced success at this level, and is hungry to grow as a player,” Head Coach/General Manager Paul Dyck said of Phinney. “We are excited to have him join us this week and we anticipate he will be in the lineup on Saturday.”

Phinney won the MGEU MJHL Goaltender of the Month award for September in which he went a perfect 4-0 with a 1.00 GAA and a .955 SV%.

The organization would like to welcome Thomson and his family to Steinbach and the Pistons community!
