The Neepawa Titans bested the Steinbach Pistons by a score of 3-2 Friday evening at the Yellowhead Centre.
The Titans drew first blood, scoring at the 2:33 mark of the first period. Mason Hartley got the puck behind the net and found Hayden stocks cutting towards the net in the slot who put it past Cole Plowman to make it 1-0.
The Pistons almost tied it up right away on the powerplay. Parker Jasper found Ian Amsbaugh on a nice backdoor feed, but Amsbaugh put it over the net and the game remained 1-0.
The Titans would extend their lead to 2-0 with a powerplay goal. Cody Gudnason found Connor Thompson at the right faceoff dot who one timed the puck past Plowman and into the back of the net.
Steinbach would bring it back to within one goal late in the first period. Ian Amsbaugh got the puck to Leo Chambers at the side of the net who then jammed it in the net to make it 2-1.
The Pistons were down 2-1 after the first period with the shot totals 9-7 for the Titans.
Neepawa would restore the 2-goal lead with a powerplay goal early in the second period. Josh Romanyk put the puck on net from a sharp angle with Will Highet tipping it top corner past Cole Plowman to make it 3-1.
Steinbach would once again bring back to within one goal early in the third period on the powerplay. Nick Mikan won the draw back to Langley Kruggel who then cycled the puck along the blueline to Jasper. Jasper found Ian Amsbaugh at the left faceoff dot who then ripped it over the glove of Gavin Renwick to make it 3-2.
The Pistons would try and battle for the rest of the third period to find the tying goal. Steinbach got close a couple times with the goalie pulled but the Titans would hold on and win the game 3-2.
