Pistons Thank Graduating Forward Travis Hensrud

The Steinbach Pistons would like to thank and congratulate Travis Hensrud on an amazing junior hockey career!

The Thunder Bay Ontario native joined the Pistons in the shortened 2020-2021 Covid season. Travis’ first full season with the Pistons came the following year in 2021-2022. In 48 games that season Travis got 39 points (24 goals and 15 assists). This past season would be a breakout season for Travis. He would lead the Pistons in goals and scoring with 72 points (35 goals and 37 assists) in 55 games. Travis was a utility player for the Pistons. He could and was used in any scenario, whether that be on special teams or even strength, and made an impact every time he was on the ice. Earlier this past season, Travis committed to play hockey at Northern Michigan where he will be playing next season.

“Looking back at the years and coming to Steinbach back in 2020 I had no clue what I was getting myself into as it was my first time moving away from home. It was an easy adjustment, and I wouldn’t change a thing” Travis stated when asked about his time in Steinbach. “The support and people that are behind the team are truly amazing, it makes it easy for us as players to come to the rink and do what we love to do every day. The relationships and the town of Steinbach has a special place in my heart.”

Travis was the type of player that laid everything out on the ice. Travis had a very diverse game that saw him play and succeed in all situations. Whether it be on the powerplay, shorthanded or on even strength, Travis in some way was impacting the game and probably generating some offence with his speed and stick skills. He wore his heart on his sleeve and would compete and battle every game that he played. Travis was a leader in the dressing room and his presence will be missed on and off the ice.

Travis will be missed in Steinbach, but the Pistons organization wish him all the best in the future!
