The Steinbach Pistons head to Winkler this afternoon to face off against the Flyers in game 6 with a chance to clinch the series.
Game 5 was a more lopsided contest between the two teams with the Winkler Flyers living to see another day with a 7-3 win. Special teams were a bit of a factor with Winkler using the powerplay to their advantage, going 2/4 in the game. Steinbach played a physical game but struggled to match the intensity of the Flyers and didn’t get some bounces to go their way, resulting in the game 5 loss. Dominik Wasik’s outing was a tough one, seeing him get pulled mid-way through the second period, giving Cole Plowman his first taste of playoff hockey this season. Steinbach will be looking to lock in their strong penalty kill that was firing at an above 90% rate prior to game 5. Malachi Klassen looked locked in, in net as he made some big, timely saves throughout game 5, giving the Flyers a chance to pour on the offence. Game 6 should be an exciting one with the Flyers fighting for a game 7 and the Pistons hoping to be able to close it out this afternoon.
